Blue Hole (Island Gully Falls) Tour from Ocho Rios
Overview
In the hills about 20 minutes' drive south of Ocho Rios, the White River spills through a string of mineral pools so blue they look lit from below. This is Island Gully Falls, better known as the Blue Hole, and it's one of the north coast's favourite places to swim.
After pickup from your hotel, a local guide leads you along forest paths and across rocks and small bridges between the falls. Stand under the cascades, swim in the natural lagoon fed by mountain springs, try the rope swing, or climb the lower ledges and jump into the pool below if you're feeling brave. There's no pressure: you can just as happily float and watch everyone else take the plunge.
The site has showers, changing rooms, lockers and a snack bar, and life jackets are provided. Bring swimwear, a towel and water shoes, and a waterproof case for your phone.
