Overview
Villa del Balbianello stands on the tip of the Lavedo promontory near Lenno, and arriving by boat is the classic way to see it. Its loggia and terraced gardens have appeared in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and the Bond film Casino Royale.
A shared boat takes you across the lake and drops you at the villa's landing. Your ticket gives you time to walk the landscaped gardens: sculpted trees, statues, flowerbeds and the arched loggia with views up and down the lake. Then the boat brings you back.
The ticket covers the gardens only, not the villa's interior. It's a short, rewarding outing that combines well with lunch in Bellagio or Tremezzo.
