Sirmione Peninsula Boat Trip
Overview
The best view of Sirmione is from the water, and this short boat trip is one of the most popular things to do on Lake Garda. You board at the old port, by the castle, with a local skipper who tells you about the sights as you go.
Cruise around the tip of the peninsula to see the villa where Maria Callas once stayed, the Roman ruins known as the Grottoes of Catullus on the headland, and the Boiola spring, where warm sulphurous water bubbles up from the lakebed. The trip finishes with a close-up view of the Scaliger Castle, passing its walls and moat.
It takes less than half an hour, so it's easy to fit around a gelato, a visit to the castle or lunch in the old town.
