Overview

This full-day tour covers the classic sights of central Bali in one comfortable loop from your hotel. Your driver-guide collects you in an air-conditioned car and heads inland to Ubud, the island's cultural heart.

Start at the Ubud Monkey Forest, a sanctuary of shady paths, moss-covered temples and hundreds of long-tailed macaques. Then drive north to the Tegallalang rice terraces, where the paddies step down a green valley and you can walk down among them. After lunch with a view, continue to Tirta Empul, a water temple built around a holy spring, where Balinese Hindus bathe under the fountains to purify themselves. You can watch, or join in with a guide's help.

On the way back there is often time for Ubud's market and palace, or a stop at a coffee plantation or waterfall. The exact order depends on traffic and your pickup point, and your guide will adjust the day to suit you.

Frequently asked questions

Are the monkeys safe?

The macaques are wild but used to people. Don't carry food, keep bags zipped, don't touch or feed them, and follow your guide's advice.

What should I wear?

Light clothes that cover your shoulders and knees for the temples, comfortable shoes for the rice terraces, and swimwear or a change of clothes if you plan to bathe at Tirta Empul.

Can the tour be changed?

Yes. It is a private tour, so we can add a waterfall, a coffee plantation or more time in Ubud. Tell us what you would like.
