Phuket Elephant Sanctuary Half-Day Visit
Overview
Phuket Elephant Sanctuary was the island's first ethical elephant sanctuary, and a visit here is the responsible way to see elephants in Thailand. There is no riding, no bathing with the elephants and no shows: you watch rescued elephants, retired from logging and tourism, as they roam, forage and bathe freely.
The sanctuary covers 30 acres of jungle bordering Khao Phra Thaeo National Park and is home to 13 elephants. The half-day programme starts with a short film at the Tree Top Lounge, then a visit to Phuket's first elephant hospital. You walk Thailand's longest canopy walkway and forest trails to find the herd, while your guide tells you each elephant's story.
The visit ends with a vegetarian Thai meal of homemade dishes. Choose a morning (09:30–13:00) or afternoon (13:30–17:00) session; shared transfers from anywhere in Phuket can be added.
