Phi Phi Islands & Maya Bay by Speedboat
Overview
The Phi Phi Islands are Thailand's classic island day: sheer limestone walls, water in every shade of turquoise and small white beaches. A speedboat from Phuket gets you there in about an hour, so you have time for several stops.
The highlight is Maya Bay on Phi Phi Le, the cove made famous by the film The Beach. It reopened in 2022 after nearly four years of closure to let the reef recover. Boats now anchor in Loh Samah Bay and you walk a short path to the beach; swimming at Maya is not allowed, but you have time to take in the view. The boat then passes Viking Cave and stops to swim and snorkel in the emerald water of Pileh Lagoon.
Lunch is usually on Phi Phi Don, and most trips end with time on a beach such as Bamboo Island or Khai Island before the ride back to Phuket.

No. Since reopening, swimming at Maya Bay is not allowed and visits are time-limited. You swim at Pileh Lagoon and the beach stops instead.
It can be bumpy, especially from May to October when the Andaman Sea is rougher. It isn't recommended during pregnancy or with back problems.
Yes, the park or the operator can cancel on safety grounds, and Maya Bay may close for part of the year. We'll rebook or refund if that happens.
