Overview
Phang Nga Bay is a calm, shallow bay north-east of Phuket, scattered with more than a hundred limestone islands. This relaxed day by boat is a good choice when the open sea is rough, and it suits families.
The best-known stop is Khao Phing Kan, better known as James Bond Island since it appeared in The Man with the Golden Gun, where the narrow pillar of Ko Tapu rises out of the water. Along the way, sit back in an inflatable canoe while a guide paddles you through sea caves and into hongs, hidden lagoons open to the sky inside the islands.
Lunch is usually at Koh Panyi, a fishing village built on stilts beside a huge limestone rock, before the cruise back through the islands.
