Ang Thong Marine Park Kayak & Snorkel Tour
Overview
Ang Thong National Marine Park is a group of 42 islands in the Gulf of Thailand, about 28 km from Koh Samui: jungle-covered limestone, empty beaches and calm water that is ideal for kayaking.
This day trip is modelled on Blue Stars Kayaking, which has run tours to the park since 1997. A minibus collects you from your hotel and you board a 23-metre tour boat at Nathon pier, with a light breakfast on the way. In the north of the park, paddle a sit-on-top kayak around Koh Tai Plao, exploring rock overhangs, small caves and a hidden lagoon, then snorkel and swim from the boat.
After a Thai buffet lunch on board, climb the short, steep path on Koh Mae Ko to look down on the Emerald Lake, a saltwater lake inside the island. The last stop is Koh Wua Talap, where you choose between more kayaking, the climb to the park's main viewpoint, a trek to Bua Bok Cave or simply the beach.

Frequently asked questions
The kayaking is gentle and the Emerald Lake climb is short but steep. The main viewpoint climb on Koh Wua Talap needs moderate to good fitness, and it's optional.
No. The lake is protected and you see it from the viewing platform.
The park can close to visitors in bad weather, most often during Samui's wet season from about October to December. We'll rebook if that happens.
