Île aux Cerfs Catamaran Day with BBQ Lunch
Overview
This is the classic Mauritian day on the water. You board a shared catamaran near Trou d'Eau Douce and sail across the east coast's lagoon, one of the widest and most sheltered on the island, towards Île aux Cerfs.
Along the way the crew stops for snorkelling over the reef and, on most sailings, heads up the estuary to the Grand River South East waterfall, where the river drops over black basalt into the sea. Lunch is a barbecue cooked on board, typically grilled fish and chicken with salads, garlic bread and fresh fruit, with drinks served through the day.
The afternoon is yours on Île aux Cerfs: swim from its white sand beaches, find a quiet spot under the casuarina trees or try a water sport from the island's operators (paid locally). The catamaran then sails back to the jetty. Hotel pickup is available from most parts of the island.
