Overview
As the heat goes out of the day, board a boat and head out to the channels where spinner dolphins gather in the late afternoon. Pods can be large, and the dolphins often ride the bow wave and leap clear of the water, spinning as they go.
The captain knows where to find them and slows down so you can watch without disturbing them. Once you've had your fill of dolphins, the boat turns towards the horizon for the sunset, and you ride home as the sky fades from gold to pink.
It's a relaxed, sit-down trip that suits every age, and an easy way to end a day of snorkelling. Cruises leave from local islands such as Maafushi and Thulusdhoo and from resorts including Embudu Village; soft drinks are usually served on board.
