Sandbank Picnic and Snorkel
Overview
Sandbanks are the Maldives at its simplest: a bar of white sand rising out of a turquoise lagoon, with nothing on it but you. This half-day trip takes you out by boat to one of them for a few hours of swimming, snorkelling and doing very little.
The crew sets up shade and refreshments, and you can snorkel the reef around the edge of the sand, where the water drops from pale blue to deep blue. Bring a book, walk the length of the sandbank or just float.
On Dhigurah you can also walk or ride an electric buggy to Thundi, the long sandbank at the island's tip, and ask for a picnic basket there; elsewhere, a traditional boat takes you to a remote sandbank a short ride away. Snorkel gear is included, and picnic lunches can be added.
