Reef Snorkelling Trip with Sandbank Lunch
Overview
This is the trip most guests book first on Maafushi, and it shows you why people come to the Maldives. You leave the harbour in the morning by boat and spend the day hopping between snorkel spots in South Malé Atoll.
The usual stops are the reef at Biyadhoo, a coral garden full of anemones and clownfish, and a turtle reef where hawksbills graze on the coral while you float above. Between stops the crew keeps an eye out for dolphins, which often ride alongside the boat.
Lunch is a picnic on a sandbank: a strip of white sand in the middle of the lagoon, with time to swim and take photos before the ride back. Masks, snorkels and fins are provided, and your guide briefs you before each swim and stays with the group in the water.
