Montenegro Day Trip: Kotor and Perast
Overview
The Bay of Kotor, just across the border in Montenegro, cuts deep into steep mountains, and it's one of the most dramatic sights on the Adriatic. This day trip from Dubrovnik takes you to its two gems: the walled town of Kotor and the small baroque village of Perast.
You're collected from your hotel early in the morning and cross the border with your guide. In Kotor you have about three hours to explore the maze of marble lanes, squares and churches inside the walls, or to climb towards the fortress above the town for the view. Then the coach follows the shore to Perast, where you can take an optional boat to the island church of Our Lady of the Rocks. You're back in Dubrovnik in the early evening.
Bring your passport: you'll need it at the border. Queues at the crossing can lengthen the day in high summer.
