Krka National Park Day Trip from Split
Overview
Krka National Park protects a stretch of the Krka river where the water tumbles over travertine terraces into green pools. Its most famous spot, Skradinski buk, has 17 waterfalls in an area only about 400 metres long, and it's an easy day out from Split.
You leave Split in the morning by air-conditioned coach, with an escort who sorts out your park tickets. Inside the park you follow the loop of wooden walkways and paths around Skradinski buk, past cascades, old water mills and stone houses now used as small museums. Then a boat takes you down the river canyon to the little town of Skradin, where there's time for lunch or a swim from the riverside beaches before the drive back. Some departures include an optional wine and olive oil tasting at a family winery.
The paths are easy but wear comfortable shoes, and bring water and sun cream.
