Dubrovnik City Walls Guided Walk
Overview
Dubrovnik's city walls wrap almost 2 km around the Old Town, and walking them is the one thing every visitor wants to do. With a local guide it becomes much more than a view: you hear how a small merchant republic kept its freedom for centuries through diplomacy, trade and stone, and how the city came through the siege of 1991–92.
You meet your guide by the Pile Gate, climb onto the walls and follow them round past towers and bastions, with the terracotta roofs of the Old Town on one side and the open Adriatic on the other. The guide points out Fort Lovrijenac across the bay, the Minčeta Tower and the old harbour, and explains how the defences worked.
The walk involves many steep steps and little shade, so go early or late in summer. The walls ticket is paid separately, or you can use a Dubrovnik Pass.
