Granada and the Alhambra day trip
Overview
The Alhambra is the reason many people come to Andalucía, and it's an easy day trip from the coast. The coach drives inland, about two and a half hours, to Granada, where the red walls of the palace-fortress rise above the city with the Sierra Nevada behind.
With a guide you explore the Alcazaba fortress, the Renaissance Palace of Charles V and the gardens and fountains of the Generalife, the sultans' summer palace. Tickets for the Nasrid Palaces, with the Court of the Lions, are timed and limited, so book early and ask us to include them when available.
There's free time in the city centre for lunch, and a chance to wander up into the Albaicín's narrow lanes, before the drive back to the coast.
