Caminito del Rey guided day trip

Walk the Caminito del Rey, the boardwalk pinned to the walls of the Gaitanes gorge, with the river running far below your feet. Once known as one of the most dangerous paths in the world, it reopened in 2015 fully restored, and today it's one of the best-loved days out from the Costa del Sol.

You're collected from the main resorts and driven inland to the lakes and pine woods around Ardales. At the north entrance you're given a helmet and a safety briefing, then an official guide leads you through the gorges and the open valley between them, telling the story of the path, built in the early 1900s for workers at the hydroelectric plant, and of the King's visit that gave it its name.

The route runs one way, north to south, ending near El Chorro, where a shuttle bus takes you back to the start. It's a walk, not a climb, but you'll want good shoes and a head for heights.
