Palma Old Town and Cathedral Walking Tour
Overview
Palma's old town is best seen on foot, with someone who knows which doorway hides a courtyard. This small-group walk starts below La Seu, the Gothic cathedral that rises above the sea walls, and winds through the lanes, squares and merchants' palaces of the historic centre.
You pass the Almudaina, the royal palace beside the cathedral, and La Llotja, the 15th-century merchants' exchange near the harbour, and hear how the city grew from a Moorish medina into a Mediterranean trading port. Inside the cathedral, with the queue skipped, your guide shows you the huge rose window, Antoni Gaudí's reforms of the early 1900s and Miquel Barceló's modern ceramic chapel.
The walk takes around two and a half to three hours at an easy pace, with plenty of stops. It's a good morning before lunch in the old town or an afternoon at the beach.
