Overview
Riu Turquoise sits right on the beach of the Le Morne peninsula in the south-west, under the UNESCO-listed mountain of Le Morne Brabant. The lagoon here is wide and shallow, and it's one of the island's best spots for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
It's a 4★ family resort with RIU's 24-hour all-inclusive, so meals, snacks and drinks are covered round the clock. Outdoor pools include one with a swim-up bar, and there are sun loungers on the beach. Children have the RIU Land entertainment programme, while adults can use the spa and wellness centre and the gym, or join guided sports and water activities. Evenings bring live shows.
There are four restaurants. La Gaulette is the main buffet, with live cooking, vegetarian and gluten-free options and two themed nights a week; the others include an Indian restaurant and a relaxed grill. Rooms include doubles with sea or side-sea views, family rooms and accessible rooms. From here Chamarel, the Black River Gorges and the dolphin trips from Tamarin are all within easy reach.
