Overview
The Grand Hotel Riviera stands right on the cliff edge above the Bay of Naples, about 500 metres from Piazza Tasso. From the terraces you look straight across the water to Vesuvius, and on clear evenings the sun sets over the islands of the gulf.
The pool deck is the heart of the hotel: a curved, sea-view pool among umbrella pines, palms and blue majolica tiles. A lift takes you down the cliff to the hotel's own bathing platform, open in the summer season, with sunbeds over the sea.
Most rooms and suites face the sea, and the Deluxe and Premium rooms look directly over the gulf towards Vesuvius. Breakfast is a buffet with a view, and the restaurant and lounge bar both open onto the water, so dinner and an evening drink come with the same panorama. It's a short, level walk into the centre for shopping and restaurants, and down to the port for ferries to Capri and the coast.
