Canopus Retreats
Overview
Canopus Retreats is a two-storey guesthouse right on the beach at Thulusdhoo, a relaxed local island in North Malé Atoll. From the front you look over the turquoise lagoon towards the Chickens and Cokes surf breaks, and the island's bikini beach is a short walk along the sand.
Rooms are simple and bright. Ocean View rooms (31 m²) sleep up to three and let surfers check the waves from bed; the Family room (39 m²) takes up to four; and the Standard and Standard Queen rooms (16 m²) are the most affordable choice.
Fusion, the beachfront restaurant, serves mas huni and roshi for breakfast, then pizzas, pasta, Southeast Asian curries and seafood, with tables on the sand under the palms. Choose à la carte, half board or full board. Snorkel gear is free for guests, and you can rent SUPs, kayaks, surfboards and bikes. The team books dolphin trips, sandbank picnics, fishing and resort day trips, and the island is only about 30 minutes from the airport by speedboat.
