Riva Surya is a 68-room boutique hotel on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, on Phra Athit Road in Bangkok's old town. It's one of the best bases for sightseeing: the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and the National Museum are within walking or cycling distance, and the Chao Phraya Express boats stop nearby, so you can skip the traffic and travel by river.
Rooms mix contemporary Thai furnishings with river or old-city views. Urban Rooms (32 m²) open onto a wooden balcony, Riva Rooms sit on the corner with 90-degree river views, and the Deluxe Riva Rooms (40 m²) have a large tiled balcony over the water.
After a hot day of temples, cool off in the riverside pool, then watch the sun go down over the Rama VIII Bridge from the Riverside Bar.
