Chatrium Hotel Riverside is a five-star tower on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok's historic Charoenkrung neighbourhood, and one of the city's best-value ways to wake up to a river view. Its 396 rooms and suites are large: the Grand Deluxe rooms measure 60 m², many have floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony, and river-view rooms look straight down the water.
The hotel's own free shuttle boat takes you to Saphan Taksin Skytrain station and to the ICONSIAM mall, so getting around avoids the traffic. From Saphan Taksin pier, the river boats continue north to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun.
Spend the late afternoon by the pool, then choose where to eat: Thai, Chinese and international dishes at River Barge, contemporary Cantonese at Silver Waves on the 36th floor, or cocktails with a 360-degree view at the Cloud 36 rooftop bar.
