Overview
98 Acres is spread across a 98-acre former tea plantation just outside Ella, on the road towards Little Adam's Peak. Its 36 thatched chalets are built from natural materials and face the hills, and most look out towards the Ella Gap.
You wake up to tea bushes and mist, then walk or cycle the estate trails, hike Little Adam's Peak or take a cooking class. Back at the resort there's an infinity pool with valley views, a small spa that uses tea and herbs grown on the estate, and yoga.
Restaurant 98 serves Sri Lankan, Far Eastern and international dishes, and Bar 98 mixes tea-based cocktails. Breakfast is included, and half board or full board are available. The hill-country climate is cool enough that rooms don't need air conditioning. It's a favourite with couples and honeymooners, and a restful stop between Kandy and the south coast.

The resort is a short drive or tuk-tuk ride east of Ella town and its railway station, along the Passara road.
They don't need it. Ella is about 1,000 metres up and nights are cool, so pack a light jumper.
