Casela Nature Parks Day
Overview
Casela is one of the island's most popular days out, a 350-hectare nature and leisure park on the west coast, below the peaks of the Black River range and a short drive from Flic en Flac.
Start in the African Safari area, where zebras, giraffes, impalas, wildebeest and rhinos roam the savannah; you can tour it by safari bus or on one of the park's electric Eco Rider vehicles. In the Predator Kingdom, the Big Cats Drive Thru takes you past lions and other big cats from a vehicle. The Bird Kingdom has walk-through aviaries, and younger children love the Pangia Kids Park with its petting farm, train and mini golf.
If you want more adrenaline, add zip-lining or quad biking, or book an early-morning breakfast on the giraffe platform. There are restaurants on site. Casela suits families best, and it pairs well with an afternoon on the west-coast beaches.
