Submarine Dive to 35 Metres at Trou aux Biches
Overview
See the reef without getting wet. Blue Safari runs a 10-seat submarine off Trou aux Biches in the north-west, and every passenger gets a window seat.
After a welcome and briefing on the beach, a shuttle boat takes you out to the submarine's floating base. Once aboard, the pilot explains the safety drill and the submarine slowly dives to around 35 metres. For 40 minutes you glide past coral, shoals of reef fish, a 17th-century anchor and the wreck of the Star Hope, while the pilot points out what you are seeing.
Back on the surface you return to shore, pick up a dive certificate and a refreshment. The whole experience takes about two hours, with dives running every hour through the day. It's a good option for non-swimmers, children and anyone curious about what lies beyond the lagoon.
