Kayak the Maro cliffs and waterfall, Nerja
Overview
Paddle from Burriana beach along the cliffs of the Maro–Cerro Gordo natural area, one of the few stretches of this coast still without buildings. With a guide leading the way in stable sit-on-top kayaks, you follow the rock face past small caves, coves and hanging gardens of plants on the cliff.
The goal is the Cascada de Maro, a waterfall that drops straight from the cliff into the sea. You paddle right up to it, with time to stop, swim and snorkel in clear water when the sea allows, before heading back to the beach.
No experience is needed. The guide explains the basics on the sand, the pace is gentle and the route stays close to shore. Families can join with children from about four, sharing a double kayak with an adult.
