Overview
Fishing is at the heart of Maldivian life, and this evening trip lets you try it the local way: with a simple handline, no rod, dropped over the side of the boat onto the reef.
You head out in the late afternoon and anchor over a reef as the sun goes down. The crew shows you how to bait the hook and feel for a bite, then helps you land whatever takes it, often snapper, grouper or jackfish. As the stars come out, the water around the boat comes alive.
Back on the island, the catch can be cooked for your dinner, grilled or in a Maldivian curry. It's a relaxed, sociable trip that suits families and groups, and fishing gear and water are included.
