Overview
Quinta do Furão stands on a clifftop at Achada do Gramacho in Santana, on Madeira's north-east coast, with the ocean below and the mountains behind. The hotel sits on a five-hectare estate, three of them planted with organic vines, vegetables and herbs, and the grapes are picked in September, when the estate holds its Wine Festival.
Fully renovated in 2020, it has 65 rooms in seven categories, with balconies over the gardens, the vineyard or the sea; superior rooms and suites add more space and wider views. An outdoor pool runs alongside the vines, and there's a sauna, fitness room and massage room.
The restaurant serves Madeiran dishes and international cooking on a veranda above the coast, and you can taste and buy Madeira wine in the estate's cellar.
