Overview
Hotel Lapad has looked out over Gruž harbour since 1914. The original stone building, with its Victorian-style façade, forms the superior wing, and a classic wing was added in 1987. It's privately owned and family-run, and it keeps a sense of old-fashioned hospitality.
The heart of the hotel is the outdoor pool, set among palms in the garden terrace, with a poolside bar. The restaurant, with its glass-walled winter garden, serves breakfast and dinner, and a studio in the hotel offers massages.
Rooms are air-conditioned and comfortable, from singles and classic doubles to family rooms and junior suites; some look over the marina. The Old Town is about 3 km away, and local buses stop about 100 metres from the door. Gruž is also where boats leave for the Elaphiti Islands, so island days are easy to fit in. It suits couples and anyone who prefers character to a big resort.
