Overview
Franklyn D. Resort, known as FDR, is a small all-inclusive resort by the sea in Runaway Bay, built entirely around families with young children. Its big idea: every family is assigned its own trained Vacation Nanny, included in the price, who helps with the children from 8.30am to 4.40pm each day.
There are 56 suites with one to four bedrooms, each with separate living and dining areas, a microwave, fridge and coffee maker, and a large balcony or garden terrace a few steps from the sea. The Yellow Bird Kids Club runs from 7am to 10pm for ages 2 to 11, with pizza making, sandcastle contests and themed dinners, and there are supervised activities for pre-teens and teens.
For everyone there are waterslides including the 100-foot Big Blue, a toddler slide, mini golf, tennis, pickleball, non-motorised water sports and boat rides. Eat at four restaurants by the sea, two of them adults only in the evening, with premium drinks, beer and wine included. The Seagrape spa sits beside the water.
