Cavalieri Hotel
Overview
The Cavalieri stands at the southern end of the Spianada, Corfu Town's great open square, a few minutes' walk from the Liston arcades and the Old Fortress. The building began life as a 17th-century nobleman's mansion and became a hotel in the late 1960s, and it still has the high ceilings and period furniture to show for it.
There are 50 rooms, from singles and twins to superior and family rooms, with side, city or sea views. Breakfast is a buffet in the main restaurant.
The highlight is the roof garden. From its terrace you look over the trees of the Spianada to the Old Fortress, the sea and the mountains of Albania beyond, and it's open every evening from 5 pm for drinks and dinner. The hotel is open all year, so it works for a spring or autumn city break as well as a few nights in town before or after a beach stay.
