Thai Cooking Class with Market Tour, Bangkok
Overview
Learn to cook the dishes you've been eating all holiday. This morning class in the Silom district starts with a walk round a local market, where your teacher shows you the herbs, chillies and pastes that give Thai food its flavour and how locals choose them.
Back in the air-conditioned kitchen, you watch and taste each dish before cooking it yourself at your own station, with your own stove and wok. You pound a curry paste by hand, learn to balance sweet, sour, salty and spicy, and pick up a little fruit and vegetable carving for the table. Then you sit down together and eat what you've cooked.
This activity is modelled on Sompong Thai Cooking School on Soi Silom 13. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal menus can be arranged, and you take home a recipe book.
