Monte Baldo Cable Car from Malcesine
Overview
From the lakeside in Malcesine, the Monte Baldo cable car lifts you to about 1,760 metres in around 20 minutes. The second section uses rotating panoramic cabins, so everyone gets the full view as Lake Garda opens out below.
At the top station, Tratto Spino, grassy ridges and marked paths lead along the mountain with views over the whole northern lake. Walk for half an hour or half a day, stop at a mountain hut for lunch, or just sit with a drink at the lounge bar and watch the paragliders launch. Mountain bikers use it too, with downhill and freeride routes.
It's cooler up top than by the lake, so bring a layer. Go early on summer days to beat the queues.
