Try scuba diving in the Red Sea: beginner boat dive from Hurghada
Overview
The Red Sea is a wonderful place to breathe underwater for the first time: the water is warm and clear, and the reefs are full of life. On this try-dive day you don't need any qualification, just reasonable health and confidence in the water.
After a hotel pick-up you board a dive boat in Hurghada. On the way out, your instructor explains the equipment and the few skills you need, such as clearing your mask and equalising your ears. Then you go in, first breathing at the surface and then slowly going down with your instructor beside you. Each instructor looks after only one or two beginners, so you go at your own pace.
There are two short dives of about 15–20 minutes each, at a depth of around 8–10 metres over coral gardens busy with reef fish. Between dives there's a buffet lunch and soft drinks, plus time to snorkel. If you love it, the day is a great first step towards a full diving course.

Frequently asked questions
You'll fill in a medical questionnaire before diving, and you should be comfortable swimming about 25 metres. Some conditions, such as heart or breathing problems, pregnancy or a recent cold, may rule you out. Age limits vary by dive centre, so tell us the ages in your group.
Leave at least 12 hours between your last dive and your flight home, so don't book this for your last day.
Check before you go that your policy covers scuba diving and the depth you'll dive to. Diving below your policy's depth limit can invalidate your cover.
