Overview
Corfu has millions of olive trees, many planted under Venetian rule, and olive oil is still at the heart of island life. On this half-day trip you visit a family-owned olive mill in the green interior of the island to see how it's made, from grove to bottle.
After a pickup in Corfu Town or from selected hotels, your host walks you through the olive groves and explains how the olives are harvested and pressed, and what makes a high-quality extra virgin oil. Then you sit down to taste several oils side by side, the way the professionals do, before trying them with bread, feta, tomatoes and a glass of local wine.
It's a relaxed, hands-on morning that makes a good change from the beach, and you leave knowing how to choose a good bottle to take home.
